Dear Parents and Families,
I hope that you are enjoying this Thanksgiving weekend. May your weekend be filled with delicious food and time spent with your loved ones.
Thank you to our amazing PAC for arranging to have Saleema Noon work with our students last week. Saleema did a wonderful job of providing scientific explanations about sexual health and body science.
DAILY HEALTH CHECK
Please remember to keep your child home if they are ill and refer to the daily Health Check.
We would like to thank you for your help and support with our younger students as they get used to wearing masks while indoors at school. The students seem to be adjusting well and have adapted very quickly.
A reminder that we are asking parents to please be mindful of how close you are to class line-ups during drop-off and pick-up. Please give the class line-ups plenty of space.
Parent-Teacher Interviews will be on Oct 20th and Oct 21st. Students will be dismissed at 2:00 pm on both days. Interviews will be done virtually or by phone. More information about when/how you can book your parent-teacher interviews will come out next week.
Similar to last Halloween, students will participate in a virtual assembly where students will get to see each other’s costumes with the help of modern technology. Students are encouraged to wear their costumes to school on the morning of October 29th.
It is suggested that students bring a change of clothes to school in case their teacher would like them to change out of their costume after the virtual assembly.
As Halloween approaches, we ask that our families take the time to make sure that costumes are school-appropriate. Please remember that costumes that portray nationalities, heritage or subcultures that are other than your own should never be used for Halloween. Costumes inspired by traumatic events in history should be avoided as well. Please also avoid costumes inspired by someone’s mental health or sexual orientation. Parents should also know that costumes that have anything to do with the COVID-19 pandemic are not appropriate for school.
Please also remember that…
- costumes should not be too scary
- toy weapons should be kept at home
- students should bring an extra set of clothes just in case their teacher would like them to change sometime during the day
