Coyote’s Howl Nov 22 – 26

Dear Parents and Families,

I hope that you are doing well and enjoying some of the sunshine.

We have been getting some questions about international travel requirements. Currently, the requirements state that…

  • Students, staff and other adults who are not fully vaccinated and have travelled outside of Canada CANNOT attend school until a minimum 14 days after arrival, as part of federal requirements.
  • Fully vaccinated students, staff and other adults who have travelled outside of Canada may qualify for the fully vaccinated traveller exemption.

Beach Grove is required to have an Emergency Preparedness Plan that would help the school in the event of an emergency. From time to time we require parents to contribute $5.00 per child toward emergency preparedness costs at the school.  This is a school-based fund that remains at the school to replenish and update emergency supplies that are housed in our Earthquake Bin.

Administrative Procedure 165-3.4 states…

Principals are authorized to collect an “Emergency Preparedness Fee”, not exceeding five dollars ($5.00) annually, from students to pay for these supplies and equipment.

The school district will provide schools with a recommended list of supplies and provide bulk purchase opportunities to reduce costs.  Purchases will take place throughout the school year as much as possible through the procurement department.  It is not intended that all supplies required will be accumulated in one year and that this will be an ongoing process of building up supplies and materials and ever-greening out-of-date items.

We will therefore be requesting that parents send $5.00 per child to your school so that the emergency preparedness supplies can be updated and adequately stocked.

Please expect to see more information shortly.

A reminder that while parents may choose to provide their child with a cell phone be personal safety reasons, that they should remain in the backpacks of students and be turned off while at school (including during recess, lunch and before and after school while on school grounds).

We have been noticing that some students are using the cameras on their phones before and after school. Please help us remind students that for privacy reasons, cameras are not to be used without teacher/school permission.

At school, students should be asking their teacher for permission to use the office phone, if they need to contact their parents.

Roar Squawk and Trumpet the News! Our Book Fair is on now.  We also have contests running this week!

There will be a costume contest. Dress as a jungle animal, wear your favourite animal print or let your imagination run wild.  Costume contest runs on your book fair day!  There will be a raffle for a free book.

During your Book Fair there will also be a Jungle theme  Guess the jar contest.

Every student who comes to the book fair will be automatically entered into a draw to receive $25 in free books for themselves and their classroom!

Time to get Wild About Reading!  We will see you at the Book Fair Jungle.

Since we are not having a traditional Christmas Concert this year, our teachers are planning on putting together a short little something that we can virtually share with parents for Christmas. Students will be teaming up with classes to have a bit of Christmas fun.

Please complete the Media Release form on parent connect, if you haven’t already done so.
